A special state task force recommended Monday that water-use restrictions be lifted throughout New York state following two weeks of rain that filled most reservoirs to near-normal levels.
The recommendation from the state Drought Emergency Task Force was forwarded to state Health Commissioner Dr. David Axelrod, who chairs New York's Disaster Preparedness Commission. Axelrod was expected to endorse the findings.
William Fagel, an Axelrod spokesman, said the health commissioner would act on the task force's recommendation within the next few days.
